  • How to Create ColdFusion Snippets in Sublime Text
Coming from Dreamweaver, Sublime Text surprised me with ton of beautiful little things. Snippet function is one of that. Dreamweaver of cause have snippet panel and it is quite easy to create a new snippet or drag and drop from the panel to a page. But Sublime Text let you do all that with keystrokes and bit more. I use ColdFusion tags, not scripts and I have written millions of CFSET tags. CFSET tag without the variable is 12 keystrokes. (more..)

  • Switch to Sublime Text IDE for ColdFusion Developers.
I'm moving from Dreamweaver to Sublime Text. Dreamweaver (DW) was my main IDE for almost a decade and it saved me good. Tag completion was excellent and I used bit of snippets too. It was reasonably stable and light, at least compared to Eclipse base IDEs. Search and Replace was excellent. Most impotently file management between remote/local servers were effortless. It works as well as ColdFusion Studio. (more..)

  • The Most Simplified Regular Expression Tutorial In The World
When I was new to programming, "regular expressions" is something that intimidated me for quite some time. All those squiggly lines, slashes, and brackets made me fallen in love with it. It was lengthy and comprehensive regular expression tutorials that scared me. Regular expressions are like Italian cooking. You start with a few essential ingredients, but you can mix them up in a correct order to create a complex dish. (more..)

  • IIS 7 Generate 404 Error on Large File Upload. (Maximum request length exceeded)
I was trying to upload/post a large file and received a flat boring 404 error from IIS 7. Microsoft Site advices to update the applicationhost.config file in %windir%\system32\inetsrv\config\applicationhost.config and increase the BYTE value of maxAllowedContentLength in the , so the IIS request filter may allow large post data to come through. • Flash Video (f4v) File not found on IIS
I was adding an f4v video into a web site today and notice IIS has not registered f4v file type by default and IIS return a 404 - File Not Found error message instead the flash video file. This is a quite easy fix, all we have to do is register f4v MIME type with IIS. (more..)

  • Repeatedly Broken Kindle Screen - Am I a serial Kindle killer?
In Amazon, Kindle received massive 14,168 reviews and 4.5 Stars. Most of those reviews end with a cliché, ‘I love my Kindle’. Well, me too. I love my Kindle, Prometheus Springs, and ColdFusion. They all are extraordinary products. But my Kindle screen broke two times within 6 months, quite the same way. Top half of the screen freeze, like a Mammoth in Siberia. Bottom half other hand works fine. Sort of like a politician. (more..)

  • Building and Running ColdFusion Web Server from Home
I have been hosting my personal/experimental/demo web sites in an entry level dedicated server for past couple of years. A dedicated server, even if it runs on a Pentium processer with 3 Gig memory, provides excellent freedom compared to shared-hosting. Freedom often not cheap and this bit of freedom have been costing me between $175 to $125 per a month. (more..)

  • Railo vs ColdFusion vs We are the CF Developers
In my previous post “Can ColdFusion Survive Under Microsoft?”, “a CF fan” made a good point about Railo. He said “This is the right time to make Railo more popularise...by telling Railo is nothing other than ColdFusion and is FREE”. “Yes! We should!”, I said to myself. If Railo is strong, we don’t have to be concerned periodically as we CF Developers seems to be doing in-between Olympics. (more..)

  • Can ColdFusion Survive Under Microsoft?
Speculation goes, as they usually do, Microsoft is thinking of buying Adobe outright. We know Adobe is in a bad shape, and may be Adobe like been under Microsoft’s roof too. I care about neither Microsoft nor adobe. But I do care about ColdFusion. Well, actually I do more than care about ColdFusion because ColdFusion is my life. I make my living out of it. I don’t like to see any harm come to that. (more..)

  • How to trigger a lazyload (on-demand load) with JQuery
Lazyload or on-demand loading is a nice way to save some bandwidth and  server load by requesting content at the end of the page only when the user scroll down to that area. If you scroll down Amazon product pages, you will notice lot of content starts to load on Ajax calls only when those areas come in to view. This post is not about how to make an Ajax call, but about when to make the call. At the bottom of my page, I have a DIV call “more”. (more..)
